John Gridley Signed Mortgage 1869

John Gridley was the first secretary and treasurer and a member of the building committee of the Southington Hardware Co. He was also warden of the borough, chairman of the board of education, assessor of the town and deputy judge of the town court.

This document is in very good condition, virtually no foxing, it has some separations on the folds and one of the 6 Internal Revenue stamps is missing. "Mortgage David Ackart to John Gridley Rec. for record Feb. 18. 1869 at 6 o’clock and recorded in Southington Land Records Vol. 26 Page 615th by F.D. Whittlesey Town Clerk" This is a preprinted form and is marked "Sold by Nathan Peckham." The calligraphy throughout is as exceptional as what is shown here on the front.
